Ingredients
2
cups
all-purpose flour
1
teaspoon
baking powder
0.5
teaspoon
salt
0.75
cups
warm water
2
tablespoons
olive oil (plus extra for brushing)
4
tablespoons
unsalted butter, melted
4
cloves
garlic, minced
2
tablespoons
fresh parsley, chopped
0.25
teaspoon
red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add warm water and 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough starts to form.
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rest for 30 minutes.
In a small bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and red pepper flakes if using.
Preheat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat.
Divide the rested dough into 4 equal pieces and roll each piece into a flat circle about 1/4 inch thick.
Brush one side of the flatbread with the garlic butter mixture before placing it, butter side down, onto the hot skillet.
Cook for about 2-3 minutes until golden brown, then brush the top side with more garlic butter and flip to cook for another 2-3 minutes.
Repeat with remaining dough, keeping cooked flatbreads warm wrapped in a clean towel.
Notes
Stack the flatbreads on a serving platter and sprinkle with extra chopped parsley. Serve with a small bowl of the remaining garlic butter for dipping.
